On Monday, March 21, 2022, on the occasion of Oltenia Day, the graphic exhibition Theodor Aman took place, exhibited in the hall of honor of the Craiova Art Museum.

Theodor Aman (March 20, 1831 - August 19, 1891) managed to concentrate in a few decades the evolution of European art, from classicism, plein-air-ism, through romanticism and realism, to the threshold of impressionism in the late nineteenth century . That is why Oscar Walter Cisek, in his monograph, printed at the "Ramuri" Publishing House in Craiova, in 1931, called him the "monsignor" of the Romanian arts. He would impose the status of the visual artist in a society that was just beginning to modernize and westernize. Theodor Aman becomes the exponent of the intellectual artist, seeker and creator of beauty, who is nothing "in its essence but the manifestation of truth."
